SSEPO sponsored a first aid CPR-AED class at the Las Cumbres Community Center on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 8 AM to 4 PM.
Training highlights: First aid basics for medical, injury, environmental and life-threatening, opioid-related emergencies, and illness and injury prevention. Adult CPR and AED (automated external defibrillator) use, with optional training in child and infant techniques.
Instructor Don Chislow explained that the course followed the American Heart Association’s Heartsaver™ guidelines, which includes updates for CPR and cardiovascular care emergencies. The coursework is suitable for anyone — from those with little or no medical training to those who need a certificate of completion for their job, regulatory, or other requirements (e.g. OSHA). All who completed the course received a certificate of completion and emergency supplies.
SSEPO offered the community a discounted fee of $20 for medical emergency training that usually costs $100.
